Chloe Clark chats to KZN Wedding DJ
Today I had the opportunity to sit with Chloe Clark at iwantmycoffee, a local hangout in Umhlanga & chat to her about her career in the music industry. iwantmycoffee is owned by Ard Matthews lead singer of the well known iconic South African Rock band Just Jinger Chloe is currently on South African Idols 2014 which we got to chat to her about. Her infectious laugh and full of life approach to life had me in stitches. We managed to get some super fun photos whilst having a chat with this talented musician.
Tell us a little more about Chloe?
I am a Durban based singer/pianist/songwriter. I grew up in a lovely little farm town called Weenen and have been singing and playing in bands since I was 10 years of age!
What initiated your passion for music?
Well, I would just like to give a shout out to my wonderful mother who used to make me listen to Bach, Beethoven and all wonderful forms of classical music when I was a small child. I feel like that is where my love and passion for music all began. I then started playing piano and singing when I was 8, and I realized that I really enjoyed it! I went on to study music at The University of Kwa Zulu Natal where I majored in Jazz voice and piano.. and so the story began.
You recently teamed up with one of Durban’s most talented artists… Majozi .. Tell us about this..
Yes I did. Majozi is one of the most golden humans known to mankind and good mate of mine, so when he asked me to sing on his album I could not refuse!
You took it upon yourself to enter South Arica’s Idols 2014. Can you give us an update on how its going?
Ah, the Idols experience. It has been such fun and crazy stressful all at the same time. I did my first audition in Durban where I got my golden ticket-which then put me through to the Top100 sent me on my merry way to Theatre week at Suncity. The week was fantastic, the other contestants were amazing and it was all and all a very successful week. I am currently in the Top31, and we wait with baited breath to see the outcome over the next few days!
Do you have an album that our readers can purchase?

Are you going to be performing live anytime soon & if So where??
I certainly am. I will be doing a fundraiser next Thursday at Hillcrest High at 6pm, R25 bucks gets you in. I will be at the Night of 100 stars fundraiser at Suncoast Casino on the 1st of September with my fabulous close part harmony group TakeFive. I will also be performing at the next Open note session with Monark on the 13th of September, so be sure not to miss that one!
